2 – Redirection agent
The agent plays a crucial role in our BCP solution.
It is installed on the network where the server(s) to be protected are located, and constantly monitors the status of the servers.
Here’s how it works:
- Continuous monitoring: The agent constantly checks server availability. In the event of failure, it immediately detects the problem.
- Presence simulation: when a server goes down, the agent simulates its presence on the network and forwards all requests to the associated Cloud instance. This avoids immediate service interruption and IP address changes.
- Traffic security: The agent communicates with the Cloud via an IPSec VPN connection.
- Automatic redirection: The agent automatically redirects network traffic to the Cloud instance. This redirection is transparent to users, who notice no interruption in service.
- Resumption of control: Once the original server is repaired and operational, the agent can restore traffic to this server, ensuring a smooth transition.
